The California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) Headquarters Complex is a mixed-use development incorporating 550,000 square feet of commercial office space, 25,000 square feet of retail space, 180,000 square feet of housing and below-grade parking for 1,000 cars. The buildings spans two adjacent blocks located in Downtown Sacramento. The CalPERS Headquarters is located at 400 Q Street, Sacramento, CA 95811. This complex includes the original CalPERS building Lincoln Plaza North, Lincoln Plaza East and Lincoln Plaza West. The building’s fenestration is adjusted from street to street to correspond to the sun’s orientation.

Colliers International reported leaks at the 5th floor and 7th floor penthouses of the Lincoln Plaza East  (LPE) and West (LPW) Buildings. McGinnis Chen Associates, Inc. was hired to do a building enclosure investigation to locate the source of the leaks. MCA began by examining pertinent documents and surveying the building for signs of water intrusion. MCA also observed destructive testing to observe the existing conditions of the wall and spray rack water testing on the exterior stucco walls. After testing was completed MCA provided a report and two options for the repair to the Client.

MCA was then hired to design the replacement of the exterior façade at the penthouses on Lincoln Plaza East and Lincoln Plaza East.  MCA also provided bid assistance and construction contract administration for the remediation. MCA performed water testing on the final repair installation to test the performance of the repair. The project was completed in 2020.
