With the expansion of energy performance standards and as enclosure assemblies become more complex, developers and owners are beginning to recognize the added benefit of Building Enclosure Commissioning (BECx). BECx is a quality assurance process that is intended to ensure that the building enclosure is designed and constructed to meet or exceed the owner’s project requirements.
MCA’s extensive experience with building enclosure investigations, design reviews and development, and construction observation help us bring a uniquely qualified perspective to the commissioning process. Drawing on our decades of experience MCA will provide third-party technical oversight from early design phases through building occupancy to help meet the Client’s goals.
Commissioning for building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems has been established for several years, but BECx is a newer service in the industry. MCA performs Building Enclosure Commissioning per ASTM E2813, Standard Practice for Building Enclosure Commissioning, and the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) Guideline 3–2012, Exterior Enclosure Technical Requirements for the Commissioning Process.
