Construction Documents and Peer Review

For new construction, we provide a coordinated set of technical drawing, details and written specification for each waterproofing and building envelope system necessary to achieve a watertight design. In many cases, the experience we have gained in solving problems in existing building envelopes translates directly into defensive design. The knowledge we have gained from years of building envelope design and remediation is directly applicable to new construction and provides owners, architects, and contractors with a high degree of comfort that such defects can be avoided and the building will perform as intended.

In addition, architects and owners often hire us to provide professional expert advice related to building envelope assemblies. At the start of the project, we provide waterproofing system recommendations and associated material recommendations suitable for the project.  During the Design Development and Construction Document phases, we review the drawings and details to ensure that the building enclosure elements are properly integrated and communicated.  We also review the written specifications to verify that they are coordinated with the drawings and communicate the desired requirements for the project. As architects and engineers ourselves, we are familiar with all aspects of the design process, yet with our technical experience we also understand the limitations of constructability.  Seeing the problem from both viewpoints, we can recommend solutions that are functional, practical and cost-effective.
