Derek has been involved in construction and architecture in many different capacities throughout his life. He lends his lifelong knowledge of different building types and assemblies, ranging from historic preservation to new construction, with a singular inspiration: to make buildings better. Having suffered from severe mold sickness as a teenager due to water intrusion, Derek’s chosen expertise in construction focuses on the building envelope; from roofs and claddings old and new, fenestrations and flashings, to plaza decks and below-grade waterproofing.
