Auburn County Courthouse

Visible to travelers in both directions of I-80, the Auburn County Courthouse signals the eastward entrance to the Sierra foothills. Constructed with local red cedar and clad in galvanized sheet metal, the dome is meant to mimic the building’s lower stone elements. Leaks in the upper court offices prompted County and State officials to readdress the waterproofing of two circular decks as well as the vertical seams of the dome. As part of the restoration, MCA recommended replacing all of the upper windows with new ash frames mimicking the original design. Both decks were then completely stripped of their membranes and given new pedestrian friendly systems. MCA provided Construction Contract Administration services for the duration of the remediation.
